15 Best Movies Of 2022

7. All Quiet on the Western Front

All Quiet on the Western Front is undoubtedly the best war movie of the year. This German film tells the story of young men in war. So, when the war began in 1914, a batch of young classmates enlisted to join the army and serve their country.

It all sounds exciting and honorable to be men of service. However, reality soon hits when they first lay eyes upon a battlefield. This harsh reality of the war makes it a worthy watch from all the movies in 2022.

6. Prey

Prey was a big surprise to everyone—especially fans of the Predator franchise. Pitting the warriors of old against the most prolific warriors of the Galaxy didn’t exactly sound like the right match. But, oh, did this film deliver and then some.

Prey leads us into the heart of a Comanche tribe, who are living and hunting peacefully in the 1700s. However, Naru (Amber Midthunder) soon notices something in the sky—a dark omen from her tribe. Her concerns come to be true when she finds out something large, fierce, and terrible is now hunting on their grounds.

5. The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent caused Nicholas Cage to make headlines again—and that has never been a bad thing. Offering a fictitious take on his own career, the film makes a parodic mockery of Nicolas Cage’s largely successful and lucrative career.

It’s about Nick Cage (Nicolas Cage) trying to claw his way out of financial ruin. However, when he accepts a $1 million offer to attend a birthday party, he’s soon entangled in a CIA mission—which takes him on a journey of a lifetime.

4. The Northman

The Northman made waves and established itself as one of the best films of the year—even before the year was half done. Loosely based on Amleth’s myth in Nordic mythology, the film takes us on adventures with Prince Amleth.

So, when Amleth (Alexander Skarsgård) goes on a journey to avenge his father and free his abducted mother, he begins to unravel some twisted truths about his own family. The film is largely gritty, dark, and tenacious. Making it a definite watch-worthy movie from the past 12 months.

3. Everything Everywhere All At Once

Everything Everywhere All at Once is about a Chinese immigrant who gets entangled in an unwanted but epic voyage. While it’s not the only film of the year meddling with the multiverse concept, it was surely the best one.

So, Evelyn (Michelle Yeoh) must connect and collaborate with her versions in different universes. Because it’s the only way to stop a multiverse catastrophe. This outstanding escapade will leave you in awe—and wanting more by the time credits roll.

2. The Batman

The Batman is the Dark Knight’s 7th live-action appearance (8th if you count Suicide Squad) in the past 20 years. While many people had their doubts, particularly about casting and the general direction of the DC universe, the film proved everyone wrong.

Even those who were expecting this movie to be good because it ended up being great. It was largely hailed as the best superhero movie of the year (Marvel didn’t even come close this time). The story itself is very dark, and investigative and does justice to the Dark Knight’s comic book counterpart.

The film starts when an unhinged serial killer begins to take out the elite of Gotham city. But, with every kill, he leaves a message for Batman—unraveling his own connection to the murders.

1. Top Gun: Maverick

Top Gun: Maverick made a record before it was even released. It marks the second-most time between the first film and their sequel (36 years, the first was Bambi at 64 years). However, a lot of people were expecting it to be a cash grab.

And they aren’t wrong, as the film has made $1.45 billion as of this writing—seven months since its release. However, what nobody was expecting was how good this film would turn out to be, with some even claiming that it largely triumphs over the original one.

The film once again features a star cast, with Tom Cruise and all the stars in 2022 (funny how that works, huh?). So, if you’ve seen the first one and haven’t seen this, then you’re missing out.
