15 Worst Movies Of 2016

7. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice

As the most anticipated movie of the year, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice dared to answer the most debated question in the history of comic books.

Instead, the viewers had to watch the showdown of two momma boys who became instant besties after finding out that their mothers share the same name.

As the first installment of the DC Extended Universe, it had Marvel Studios legitimately worried about competition but as it turns out, DC movies simply cannot hold a candle to the wonders examined in Marvel movies.

6. Dirty Grandpa

Gone are the days when the two-time Academy Award-winning actor Robert De Niro grasped the audience’s attention with his hands with marvelous performances as shown in Goodfellas and Raging Bull.

Starring Zac Efron, it was no surprise that Dirty Grandpa became drenched in bad reviews and was one of the many movies that De Niro allowed to damage his rich legacy.

5. Misconduct

Anthony Hopkins and Al Pacino are two of the greatest actors alive today and have built Hollywood with their bare hands. Once it was announced that the two powerhouses will be starring together for the first time in the drama thriller Misconduct, expectations reached sky-high.

Turns out, the movie was a lackluster fest and showcased that the two great actors were definitely just starring for the sake of paychecks instead of putting on a must-watch show for the viewers.

4. Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad 2016

Featuring the Marvel anti-hero of the same name, Deadpool became one of the most successful superhero movies in recent memory but when DC tried the same with multiple anti-heroes in Suicide Squad, the result was a bigger disappointment than Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

With already one critically panned movie in DC Extended Universe, Suicide Squad was a movie that the studio could not have afforded to have ridiculed by the reviews. As the tip of the iceberg, Jared Leto’s Joker was the worst part of the movie.

3. Cell

Cell 2016

Arguably the greatest horror fiction author of all time, Stephen King produces one literary masterpiece after another. While doing so, the author is responsible for a handful of great movies because of film adaptions such as The Shining and I.T.

Sadly, when it came to his 2006 science fiction horror novel Cell, everything came tumbling down. With Samuel L. Jackson and John Cusack in the lead, stakes were high yet Cell could easily be called the worst King film-adaption ever made.

2. God’s Not Dead 2

Gods Not Dead 2 2016

While the first installment surprisingly became the highest-grossing independent movie of the year and even won a GMA Dove Award for Inspirational Film of the Year, it received negative reviews but that did not stop the sequel from being granted the green light.

Starring Melissa Joan Hart, God’s Not Dead 2 was a sequel that nobody ever asked for and despite being a commercial failure, a third installment of the series has been announced.

1. Ghostbusters

Ghostbusters 2016

When the trailer for the Ghostbusters reboot movie was released, the signs of it gaining the title of the worst movie of the year were inevitable. Believe it or not, it became the most disliked movie trailer on YouTube within hours of its release.

Lame jokes, lack of originality, and a predictable storyline served as many reasons behind the movie becoming a box office bomb.

Worst of all, not even cameos by the cast of the original movie could save the movie from its impending disaster. If anything, the reboot reminded everyone why Bill Murray was always hesitant to do Ghostbusters III.
