6. Final Fantasy XV (PS4 & Xbox One)
All the way back in 2006, Square Enix unveiled Final Fantasy Versus XIII, a game so epic fans have waited eagerly to get their hands on it ever since. Sadly, as fate would have it, that was the last we heard of it until recently.
Many years passed with rumors of delays and cancellations, until one fine E3 (of 2013), from out of nowhere, the game had been re-shown to the masses, under the new working title of Final Fantasy XV.
The game is set to come out this year (if no more delays happen) and when it does, it is sure to take the RPG world by storm.
5. Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 & Xbox One)
The Metal Gear Solid series has been a pioneer of espionage games for many years now, and Metal Gear Solid V is gearing up to become Hideo Kojima’s biggest game yet. It is so big that the prologue for this game is being delivered separately.
A game this big from Kojima himself has to be spectacular, which is why this game should definitely be on your wish list.
4. Halo (Xbox One)
It doesn’t take a genius to realize that sooner or later there should be a Halo title for the Xbox One. Even then, when the trailer for what seems to be Halo 5 was shown during last year’s E3, the crowd went wild over excitement. The extremely brief trailer told us absolutely nothing about the upcoming game, but all that did was build up the hype and suspense even more.
While some belief it to be Halo 5, others claim it is a brand new spin-off game set in the Halo series. No matter what it is, it has been confirmed that the game would be running at 60 fps and will be out later this year.
3. Thief (PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 & Xbox One)
Thief is a reboot of a series of the same name that practically wrote the book on virtual stealth and thieving. Modern games such as Assassin’s Creed, Dishonored, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, etc. which have defined and revolutionized the stealth genre all have gameplay roots in the original Thief. Although it was to be released last year, development issues have pushed the release date to February 2014.
As of today, the game has already been released in North America and has received good critical reception. It is slated to be released in Europe tomorrow. In case you are yet to get your copy, have a look at the gameplay footage embedded below to get an idea about the gameplay:
2. Titanfall (PC, Xbox 360 & Xbox One)
Titanfall is supposed to be the genre-defining game that comes along once or twice every video game generation. Invested heavily by Microsoft, this game turned numerous heads during last year’s E3, showing gameplay scenes that included running and jumping on billboards, as well as controlling giant bipedal mechs on the fly.
While many hoped this game would be released as an Xbox One launch title, its release date turned out to be in March. The beta, however, is already out and has garnered extremely positive reviews.
Here, have a look at this beauty:
1. Infamous: Second Son (PS4)
A spin-off of the highly acclaimed, PlayStation-only, Infamous series, Second Son follows a different protagonist than the first two games, but one who is arguably similar with identical powers and attitude.
Even with Cole’s demise, his legacy lives on, albeit in an infamous way. His actions have caused this race of conduits to be dubbed terrorists, leading the government to try and destroy them all. The game is slated for release in March.
