One glance at supermarket magazine racks will show that Americans are obsessed with celebrity gossip. From who wore what on the red carpet to suspected baby bumps, people pay attention to just about everything related to the stars—especially their legal troubles. It may be comforting to know that even the hottest hunks and most beautiful babes look somewhat ordinary without professionally-applied makeup and airbrushing, but mug shots depicting celebrities in times of trouble can haunt them for years to come. Bobby Brown

A mere seven months after being arrested for DUI earlier this year, 43-year-old Bobby Brown was pulled over on suspicion of drunk driving in October 2012. The singer, who was the ex-husband of the recently deceased Whitney Houston, pleaded no contest the first time around and checked himself into a rehabilitation program as part of his plea bargain.
Brown had been attempting to revamp his career by rejoining his former boy band New Edition for a reunion concert tour, but apparently, his battle with the bottle is getting in the way. Then again, it’s “his prerogative.”
Nicole Richie

It’s almost difficult to remember that fashion designer and reality TV host Nicole Ritchie was arrested for DUI back in 2006. When she was just 25, the former BFF of Paris Hilton and adopted daughter of crooner Lionel Ritchie cooperated with police and admitted that she had taken Vicoden and smoked pot before getting behind the wheel. (Just three years earlier, she had pled guilty to heroin possession.)
Amazingly, Nicole is one starlet who truly managed to turn her life around. Now a married mother of two, she balances a full-time career and volunteers for various charities.
Lindsay Lohan
We’re still shaking our heads in confusion over Lindsay Lohan. The once-adorable actress burst onto the scene in Disney’s 1998 remake of The Parent Trap and went on to become a household name in 2004’s Mean Girls, but she is now better known for her string of run-ins with the law. Sadly, we’ve almost enjoyed watching her career and popularity with fans go down the tubes as a result.
She was arrested for DUI in 2007, entered a rehab facility, and was arrested for DUI again—while wearing her alcohol-detection ankle bracelet! In addition to alcohol, Lohan was booked for possession of cocaine. Oh, and let’s not forget to mention her attempt at a five-finger discount on a $2,500 necklace in 2011 that resulted in shoplifting charges.
She’s had six short stints in jail in addition to 35 days of home confinement, but a judge has ruled that LiLo will no longer have to meet with a probation officer or make court appearances if she manages to stay out of trouble until May 2014. Keep your fingers crossed.
Amanda Bynes
Some gossip mongers are already wondering if Amanda Bynes is the next Lindsay Lohan. You know it’s bad when the paparazzi are comparing you to Linds! Former tween cutie Amanda Bynes, best known for the popular TV series “What I Like About You,” was arrested for DUI after she sideswiped a police car in April 2012.
She was subsequently involved in multiple hits and runs after the DUI incident and was photographed smoking a “drug pipe” while driving with a suspended license. The 26-year-old, who has supposedly “retired” from acting, swears to the press that she does not drink, let alone drink and drive.
