The first-person shooter is a genre in gaming that is in the rage among fans for more than two decades now.  Over the years we have come across many hits and it seems that first-person shooters are going to be eye candy for many in 2012 as well. Therefore, here we take a look at the top 7 best FPS games of 2012:

 

7. Halo 4

Halo 4 is a forthcoming video game. 343 Studios is developing this eighth installment in the Halo franchise. The game is being developed for the Xbox 360. The game continues sometime after the ending of Halo 3, and Master Chief is the lead character in this version also while Cortana is also appearing in the game.

The game will be released during the 2012 Holiday season.

 

6. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, shortly called CS: GO is an online first-person shooter-based game. The game is being developed by Valve Corporation and Hidden Path Entertainment and would be available for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and Xbox 360.

Some of the highlights of the game include revised adaptations of classic maps along with new gameplay modes, weapons, characters, and maps.

 

5. BioShock Infinite

BioShock Infinite, the third game in the BioShock series is another forthcoming first-person shooter video game. The game will be released in October 2012 as announced by the developers Irrational Games on the Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 platforms.

BioShock Infinite is not a direct sequel to the previous game of the series rather it takes place in an earlier period and a different setting, nonetheless it has the same gameplay concepts and themes.

 

4. Dust 514

Announced in August 2009, Dust 514 is being promoted as a glimpse of the future. It is being developed by CCP’s Shanghai studio and according to the officials the game is being exclusively designed for Play Station 3.

The game highlights users fighting ground battles in wars on planets in the ‘Eve Online’ universe and these battles would determine who has power over different planets in the EVE universe.

 

3. Far Cry 3

Developers of Far Cry 3 at Ubisoft Montreal claim the game to be ten times bigger than Far Cry 2. All the action in the game will take place in a gigantic sandbox.

To give it a modern look and compete with other contemporary releases some bells and whistles are added to it and it runs on Dunia Engine. The game will be released in September 2012.

 

2. Borderlands 2

Though an epic sequel yet promises a well-crafted story with spanking characters, setting, enemy weapons, and tools. Gearbox is developing Borderlands 2 and it will be released in September 2012.

 

1. Prey 2

Released by Human head studios, Prey 2 is calibrated in a spacious, gaping, and strange setting and players have the option of walking around and taking on missions. Original Prey ends when, a native American, who was abducted with many others, by an enormous spaceship ‘Sphere’ destroys it with the assistance of spirit powers.

Prey 2 will start from the point where the original Prey ended with a more elaborate setup. It will be released on Microsoft Windows, Play Station 3, and Xbox 360.

    Great post Freeha, i’m glad you put Bioshock Infinite and Far Cry 3 in the list. Both are just awesome games. Bioshock Infinite with its fantastic storyline and awesome combat system, while Far Cry 3 with its awesome gameplay. Weirdly though, i have the first Halo game on my classic Xbox, but never played it seriously. I don’t know, i think Sci-Fi FPS is not my thing. I become really bored with all the laser-shooting and weird robotic monsters. Maybe i should give this game a try this holiday season.
