When the very first iPhone (designed by Jonathan Ive) was unveiled by Apple CEO Steve Jobs back in January of 2007, it was aimed at capturing only 1% of the smartphone market which at that time translated into only 1000,000 units. As it later turned out the iPhone shattered all competition even against the expectations of Apple and its skyrocketing sales made it one of the most successful smartphones in history.
With just four iPhone models in the market in over 4 years (2007 to 2011), Apple now dominates the smartphone industry. In the last quarter alone, Apple shipped more than 20 million iPhones.
After Steve Job’s recent resignation as Chief Executive Officer of Apple, IntoMobile has released an interesting infographic that shows the evolution of the iPhone which may still not have reached its peak yet.
