Samsung Galaxy Note 4 vs iPhone 6 Plus – Do We Have a Winner?

POSTED BY

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 vs iPhone 6 Plus

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and the iPhone 6 Plus both have their pros and cons but is one clearly better than the other? There have been multiple tests done of both regarding different features and below are the results of our Samsung Galaxy Note 4 vs iPhone 6 Plus comparison:

Physical Design (Tie)

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 vs iPhone 6 Plus design

Both phones are considered “phablets”—a combination between a phone and a tablet due to their large sizes. Although the iPhone 6 Plus is somewhat taller at 6.22 inches (in comparison to Galaxy Note 4’s 6.04 inches), it is slightly thinner.

Its curved aluminum body feels better in your hand than the mostly plastic, not-quite-as-sleek Galaxy Note 4. Realistically, in terms of physical design, there isn’t enough of a difference to call a true winner over the other.

Screen (Samsung Wins)

Samsung’s 5.7-inch screen outperforms Apple’s 5.5-inch screen in terms of size but what about quality? The Galaxy Note 4 has a screen resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 with 551 ppi, while the iPhone 6 Plus’ screen resolution is 1,920 x 1080 with 401 ppi.

The iPhone has an LCD screen, where the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 features a super AMOLED screen. Super AMOLED screens are superior for contrast and in low light, making watching movies or gaming indoors a true delight. Although the iPhone’s screen isn’t shabby, the Galaxy Note 4’s screen is a clear winner here.

Productivity (Samsung Wins)

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 productivity

In everyday tasks, both phones are enough to do what you need to get done. If you’re looking for hard-core power, the Galaxy Note comes with 3072 MB of RAM, where the iPhone only comes with 1024 MB of RAM. The iPhone comes with more built-in storage (128 GB) than the Note (32 GB). However, the Note’s storage is expandable with microSD cards to match the iPhone’s 128 GB.

The Galaxy Note 4 has the S-pen, a smart stylus, which can be used for sketching and making notes on the large screen. Another feature the Note has is the Multi Window, which allows you to multi-task between apps, opening more than one app on the screen and even dragging and dropping text or pictures between apps.

The raw power and additional features offered by the Galaxy Note 4 noses it ahead of the iPhone 6 Plus in productivity.

Battery Life (Tie)

In terms of talk-time, the iPhone’s battery outperforms the Note by four hours but in terms of music playback, the Note outperforms the iPhone by two hours. The iPhone’s battery is fully integrated into the phone, meaning that the battery cannot be removed by the user.

Although the iPhone battery may outlast the Note’s battery by just a bit, the fact that it can only be removed by a professional outweighs any advantage it may have. In this category, the phones are even.

Operating System (Apple wins)

iPhone 6 Plus Operating System

Despite all the above information, many people’s choice in phone comes down to the operating system (OS), comfort level and familiarity. People like to stick with what is familiar. In terms of OS, Galaxy has improved its OS greatly.

Samsung used to be guilty of overloading its OS with apps that nobody used but they have gotten better with that of late. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is more customizable, for those of you that like to tinker with your toys.

Apple’s iOS, however, is more user-friendly. It is more connectible to other devices although, admittedly, it does connect more easily to other Apple devices. There are more apps available for iOS than Android and iOS works seamlessly, where Samsung has a history of lag when using its OS.

If you are the type of person that just wants your phone to work flawlessly out of the box, the iPhone 6 Plus is for you.

And We Have a Winner

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 better than iPhone 6 Plus

Based on the specifications and features of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and the Apple iPhone 6 Plus, the two phones are highly comparable.

However, looking at all the categories, it’s clear that the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 outperforms the Apple iPhone 6 Plus by enough of a margin to make it worth your consideration. The next time you’re in the market for a new smartphone, take a look at the Galaxy Note 4. You won’t be disappointed.
