Nokia Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 Windows Phones Announced – Everything You Need to Know

To much delight of Windows Phone fans, Nokia has officially announced Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 Windows phones at the Nokia World conference in London yesterday. Both the phones are the result of the Nokia-Microsoft partnership earlier this year and are the very first Windows Phone 7.5 Mango powered mobile devices from Nokia.

Nokia’s Chief Executive Stephen Elop at the time of the unveiling of the sets said:

“It’s a new dawn for Nokia.”

Lumia 800

 

Specs

Lumia 800, whose design is primarily based on N9, sports the following punch:

  • single-core Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon 1.4Ghz processor
  • 512MB RAM
  • 3.7″ ClearBlack AMOLED display with 800×480 resolution
  • one-piece polycarbonate body
  • Windows Phone 7.5 Mango
  • 8-megapixel rear camera with Carl Zeiss lens and LED flash
  • 720p HD video recording at 30 fps
  • 16GB of internal storage (not upgradable – although users can have 25GB of free cloud storage via Microsoft’s SkyDrive service)
  • Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth 2.1

  • three available colors: cyan, magenta, and black

  • $584 or €420 without a contract

 

Availability

Lumia 800 will be available in France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, and the UK in November. It will hit the rest of the world by the end of this year. There is no word on its release in the U.S. but it is expected to land in the U.S. in 2012.

  • WVGA TFT display (lower quality than Lumia 800’s ClearBlack AMOLED display)

  • two available body colors: black or white and various back cover colors: black, white, cyan, fuchsia and yellow

  • €270 or $375 without a contract

 

Availability
