New iPad to Feature a Thinner, Lighter Battery

POSTED BY , UPDATED ON September 8th, 2011

According to the Taiwan Economic News

The second version of Apple’s famous iPad device the “iPad2” which is in the market and the sales of the product have been ground breaking for Apple Corp., is already a very thin device Approx. 0.34 inches but the next generation of the iPad might be even more thinner and much lighter, thanks to a new and improved battery pack.

Taiwan Economic News states, the two major suppliers of the iPad and the Macbook’s battery packs, Dynapack International Technology Corp. and Simplo Technology Co.

Both companies are ready to produce the new lighter and better battery pack as early as the 4th Quarter of 2011, with mass production expected to start in the 1st Quarter of 2012.

It is expected that the new batteries will make the iPad thinner and lighter and extend its battery life, but they will not come cheap as it will cost Apple Corp. an addition 20-30% bigger price point because of the advanced technology that will be employed to the production of these battery packs.

Hopefully this will not cause Apple to increase the cost of the iPad much (Fingers Crossed).
