Phil Schiller from Apple has announced a new textbook experience for iPad on Thursday. It will be called iBooks2. Schiller has also announced that the new textbook category included in Apple’s iBook Store will include every subject’s book of every grade level.
Apple will start from textbooks of high schools and then will eventually include textbooks from all the grades. Partners of Apple for textbooks will be McGraw-Hill, Pearson and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.
The display of textbook in the conference was shown with the feature in which students could tap a word to check for its glossary definition which is (interactive tap experience) is supposed to be good for students.
Schiller used educational statistics to tell the importance of this experience and said that according to ratings, Americans are ranked 17th in reading and this experience would encourage them to read more. As a matter of fact, there are already over 1.5 million iPads in use at different educational institutes for the purpose.
