Just a week before Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2012, the Dev iPhone team updated Redsnow to version 0.9.12b1, as a result of which, iPhone users can now untethered jailbreak their iPhones. The Dev team has also updated 3 other jailbreaking tools including the PwnageTool, Ultrasn0w, and Cinject. Let’s take a look at how to jailbreak iOS 5.1.1 untethered with Redsnow 0.9.12b1:
According to the Dev team:
“The underlying untethered jailbreak (rocky-racoon) is identical to what is already installed by last week’s tools like Absinthe, cinject-0.5.3, and the rocky-racoon Cydia package – only the injection method offered by the above tools differs.”
If your device has already been jailbroken using chronic Dev’s Absinthe or Rocky Rackoon, then you are not in need of using Redsnow unless you are having any problem with the current jailbreak, but if you have not unlocked your device till now, and you were waiting for a tool like Pwnage tool or Redsnow tool for the custom restore of firmware, then this update will work best for you.
Another feature of the update is that now users can add SAM tickets as the function of their starting ramdisk jailbreak. Users can add these tickets to any jailbroken iDevice.
