Apple on Tuesday finally announced the long-awaited and rumored ‘budget iPhone’ called iPhone 5C. The release of next-generation iPhones is always met with a lot of frenzy but the latest buzz of excitement for both the next-gen iPhone 5S and the low-cost iPhone 5C is something that has never been seen before (probably because of the launch of two new iPhones instead of a usual single launch). Here’s everything you need to know about iPhone 5C:
iPhone 5C Specs
The body of the iPhone 5C has been manufactured from a single mold of hard-coated polycarbonate plastic with a steel frame installed inside it. Specs-wise, iPhone 5C is identical to the original iPhone 5. It lauds a 4-inch display with a pixel resolution of 1136 x 640, weighs 4.65 ounces, and boasts a height slightly greater than iPhone 5. Its iSight camera comes in at 8 megapixels with LED flash and backside illumination to improve picture quality in low light.
With the A6 processor identical to iPhone 5, the smartphone allows its users to take still pictures while a video is being recorded – an impressive feature in these new times. The iPhone 5C will take multiple snaps at a great speed and at an amazing resolution of 3264 x 2248 pixels. The lens is of hard sapphire crystal that can only be scratched by a diamond.
The only improvement that the iPhone 5C offers over iPhone 5, apart from iOS 7, is its front camera which produces better image quality.
“C” is all About Colors
As some sources truthfully claimed, the “C” in iPhone 5C stands for nothing but ‘color’ as the model will be available in five different color choices for the very first time; white, pink, yellow, blue, and green (no black models this time).
iPhone 5C has the same battery as that of the iPhone 5, allowing the user to have 8 hours of 3G talk-time, 8 hours of 3G and 10 hours of Wi-Fi browsing, 10 hours of video, and up to 40 hours of audio playback.
iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S Cases
There are plenty of additional colorful fitting cases available for both the iPhone 5C and the iPhone 5S. The original casings of the iPhone 5C are made to be shiny; however, the fitting cases are matte and soft in look. Each fitting case will cost an additional $30.
iPhone 5C Target Market
iPhone 5C is the very first iPhone ever that has a plastic casing and it’s Apple’s first-ever “budget” smartphone. Its release is mainly aimed at targeting first-time iPhone users. In case you didn’t get yourself an iPhone before because it was too expensive for you, here’s your chance.
iPhone 5C Availability and Pricing
With a two-year contract signed, a 16GB iPhone 5C will cost merely $99 and a 32 GB iPhone 5C will cost around $199. Off-contract, the prices will go up to $549 and $649 respectively. Pre-orders are scheduled to begin on Friday, the 13th and its immediate launch countries include the US, Australia, France, Germany, Japan, Canada, China, Singapore, and the UK.
