After a number of beta releases (five to be precise), Apple today has finally pushed out the very final version of iOS 6.1 for its iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users worldwide. As with most final iOS updates, the 99.6MB iOS 6.1 Final Version offers several polished bug fixes, some minor functionality improvements, and minor user interface improvements.
iOS 6.1 Features
Some of the main features of this update include:
- Enhanced LTE carrier support (3 dozen new iPhone carriers have been added along with 23 new iPad carriers)
- Siri can now buy movie tickets (in U.S. only)
- Ability to download individual songs from iCloud (for iTunes Match users only)
- Brand new button for resetting Advertising Identifier
This update too can be downloaded OTA (Over-The-Air) by going to Settings->General->Software Update. OR alternatively, you can download the update from the direct official download links given below!
For all users having non-jailbreaked devices, we highly recommend you to update to iOS 6.1 Final Version to enjoy the best security and performance features that iOS has to offer. In case you have a jailbroken device then you should stay away as far as possible from this update, especially given the fact that even iOS 6.0 is yet to be untethered jailbreaked.
However, there is good news as per some recent reports untethered iOS 6.1 jailbreak could be released on Super Bowl Sunday.
