Download iOS 6.0.2 For iPhone 5 and iPad Mini

 iOS 6.0.2

iOS 6 was launched this September simultaneously with the release of the iPhone 5. Apple claimed iOS 6 for being one of the biggest and most powerful iterations of their popular mobile operating system as they packed it with almost 200 new features. Every newly launched iOS version usually has to face criticism due to some bug, so was the case with iOS 6. Some even went to extent of calling iOS 6 to be the worst iOS iteration ever due to the introduction of Apple Maps, and others criticized it for some of the minor bugs and features they didn’t like.

Apple responded to the criticism in a very positive way by releasing some in time updates to remove those minor bugs and accepted Google maps back to iOS to soothe its angry users.

In a bit surprising move, Apple yesterday has pushed iOS 6.0.2 exclusively to its iPhone 5 and iPad Mini users worldwide. The update onboard doesn’t look big and is quite unusual because specific iDevice iOS updates are unforeseen. iOS 6.0.2 focuses on a specific notorious bug regarding Wi-Fi functionality of the iPhone 5 and iPad Mini as both of the devices were having serious Wi-Fi connectivity problems.

The company’s release note state:

“Fixes a bug that could impact Wi-Fi.  No additional features or security fixes are part of the update.”

If you are an iPhone 5 or iPad mini user, follow the procedure mentioned below to download this update!

Download iOS 6.0.2 via Over The Air (OTA)

Update your device to iOS 6.0.2 using this Over The Air update procedure:

  • Open ‘Settings’ app
  • In Settings, Tap on ‘General’
  • Click ‘Software Update’, and you will find an update available
  • Tap ‘Download & Install’ to finalize the update procedure

Remember, iOS 6.0.1 still remains the latest update for rest of iDevices, which brought performance improvements and bug fixes found in the initial release of iOS 6 (including the fix for horizontal lines on the keyboard, fix for Passbook bugs, fix for Wi-Fi connectivity issues, fix related to the Camera app and much more).

If you still haven’t updated your device to iOS 6.0.1, You can download it from here.

Just two days before the release of iOS 6.0.2, a 4th beta version of iOS 6.1 was also launched for developers and it is expected that iOS 6.1 would get released by the end of this year, or sometime in January of 2013. iOS 6.1 is slated to offer improvements in Siri and the passbook deals with boarding passes on compatible devices. Some reports also mention the improvement in battery life to be a major feature of iOS 6.1.
