After releasing iPad 3 along with iOS 5.1 to the general public back in March, Apple today has pushed out the very first update for iOS 5.1 entitled iOS 5.1.1 build 9B206. The update, although comparatively minor, offers a number of performance tweaks and bug fixes. iOS 5.1.1 specifically addresses HDR photo and iTunes store bugs. The update also improves AirPlay, Reading list syncing and iPad network (2G/3G) switching.
According to the official changelog:
Like with any iOS 5 onward update, this update too can be downloaded over the air (OTA) and via direct IPSW download. If you wish to go with the OTA method all you have to do is to jump to Settings -> Software Update. For getting the IPSW of this update uses the direct download links given at the end of this post.
If you have a jailbroken iDevice then you shouldn’t update and you should wait for some time as hopefully the untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1.1 would be available by the end of this month or by mid-June.
We strongly recommend all users, who own a non-jailbroken iDevice, upgrade to iOS 5.1.1 to enjoy the latest features which Apple has to offer.
