After a couple of beta releases for the developers in the recent past, Apple has finally pushed the very final version of iOS 5.0.1 to the general public. This new update fixes the critical battery issues reported by the iOS 5 users. This update is the very first one which can be installed Over The Air (OTA) which means that now there is no need to connect your iPhone to iTunes on your computer in order to update to iOS 5.0.1, rather you can update directly from your iPhone by going to
Settings>>General>>Software Update (a WiFi or 3G connection will be required).
iOS 5.0.1 offers the following features:
- a fix for iOS 5 battery issue
- multi-touch gestures for the iPad
- a fix for reported iCloud bugs
- improved voice recognition for Australian users
However, keep in mind that if you are planning to jailbreak your device soon then avoid updating to this version and continue using iOS 5 as an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0 will soon be available.
