Ubisoft Montreal (head of the development team) has finally revealed today what it has been making for the last three years in collaboration with six other Ubisoft studios with double the manpower it used to make Assassin’s Creed II. Yes, you have guessed it right – Ubisoft has revealed the debut trailer of its new mammoth project; Assassin’s Creed III. The trailer comes right after the recent image and information leak by Game Informer in which a lot of information regarding the storyline and setting of Assassin’s Creed III made its way to the public. Despite this leaked info, the latest released official trailer has nonetheless raised the expectations to further heights and has enjoyed much fanfare.
Assassin’s Creed will revolve around a half-Native American assassin named Ratohnhake (pronounced as Ra-doon-ha-gay-doo) – or luckily simple as “Connor“- in and around American revolutionary war era. The game will allow the players to work with some historical figures such as George Washington and Benjamin Franklin and do some epic assassinations.
Assassin’s Creed III will boast a brand new powerful gaming engine named “Ubisoft-AnvilNext”, capable of rendering “thousand man battles“, which offers brand new close to reality textures, facial expressions, animations, sounds, and artificial intelligence.
The game will put the players in a much bigger and wilder world (50% larger than Assassin’s Creed II‘s world) and will feature various weather conditions such as snow and rain in both cities and wilderness.
According to Yves Guillemot’s, chief executive officer at Ubisoft, press release:
“Assassin’s Creed III features the franchise’s most expansive setting so far, along with an exciting new hero and exponentially more gameplay. Whether you’re a longtime fan of Assassin’s Creed or if you’re new to the franchise, you’re going to be blown away by the scale and marvel of Assassin’s Creed III.”
Assassin Creed III will introduce a completely new combat system (which features 1000+ new and unique combat animations and carries no animation from the previous title) along with the ability to hunt animals in the wilderness (for resources), climb trees and cliffs for setting up kills.
The game will also introduce a new property system and goods based economy along with a lot of new minor features such as auto-detection of the target (instead of the previous target locking), human shields, etc.
Lips are sealed when it comes to the multiplayer gameplay of Assassin’s Creed 3 and info is scarce.
At the moment, Assassin’s Creed III is currently slated to be shipped on 30th October 2012 in North America for PS 3, Xbox 360 and Windows. An upcoming Wii U version has also been reported.
