The PS Vita is Sony’s latest attempt to claim superiority in the handheld gaming console segment of the market. It’s the successor to the PlayStation Portable and was released at the back end of 2011. Here we’ll look at some of the most exciting and anticipated games due for release in the foreseeable future.
At launch there were around 25 titles to choose from; the picks of the bunch were F1 2011, FIFA and Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack, but with the Vita now firmly part of the gaming stratosphere, developers are looking to release some more content to keep gamers happy.
Check out these upcoming PS Vita games of 2012:
7. Touch My Katamari
As Japanese as eating food with chopsticks, the Touch My Katamari game for the PS Vita is one weird development, indeed. If you’re into being the son of the King of the galaxy and like having lots of weird and wonderful fun, then Touch My Katamari will be right up your street!
The graphics are very disappointing but that’s really missing the point with this game. It’s all about no frills fun.
A ridiculous success on all platforms, LittleBigPlanet is destined to finally hit the Vita sometime this summer. Combining addictive gameplay with the Vita’s impressive tech list it should make for some engaging creativity on a game that has won so many plaudits and fans.
If you’ve never played LittleBigPlanet, give it a shot; you won’t regret it!
5. Final Fantasy X HD
The Final Fantasy series just seems to be never-ending, and while there are those who just don’t get the game, it’s purist fans always wait in huge anticipation for any new or updated release. And with the developers choosing to tweak X for its first Vita outing, it should make for an interesting experience.
With updated HD graphics and other amendments which developer Square Enix won’t delve into, Final Fantasy X HD is due to be a big hit.
4. Street Fighter X Tekken
At launch, the Vita had Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 for gamers to get their fighting fists into, but now there’s competition for the throne as Street Fighter X Tekken is now on the scene. It’s hard to split the two games but one thing is for sure, it’s going to be one hell of a fight.
Can the legendary title of Street Fighter be enough to tempt fans into a purchase? Time will tell, but while we’re waiting: 3, 2, 1… FIGHT!
3. Silent Hill: Book of Memories
The Vita’s tech allows users to really engage in a fantastic handheld experience, and with the scary and daunting Silent Hill: Book of Memories game due to be released this year, it’s going to create one hell of a spine-tingling combination.
Survival horror games have always been successful, so let’s hope the latest Silent Hill game can live up to its hype.
2. Dust 514
Games that are made for bigger systems like the PS3 and then are watered-down for systems like the PS Vita often fail to keep audiences impressed, but that stigma may well be broken this summer when Dust 514 is unleashed.
The graphics look superb, the gameplay is apparently going to be MMOFPS and there’s even word you’ll be able to link it up to your PS3, meaning you can take Dust 514 out with the Vita and it’ll update on the PS3 game.
Sounds good to us!
1. Call of Duty
Any Call of Duty title is going to be seriously anticipated, and the PS Vita’s title is almost certain to be a huge success. There’s not too much information floating around as yet, but with a tentative release date of autumn 2012, Activision had better get this one right for the Vita gamers!
