iPhone 4S Sold Out On All US Carriers

14 Oct 2011 by Sherjeel

Considering the release of iPhone 4S instead of the most anticipated iPhone 5 followed by the unfortunate death of Steve Jobs, it was thought that this release of Apple’s next generation iPhone might end up not performing well in the market however this iPhone has proved to be Apple’s most successful launch to date. According to the three major US carrier sites, Apple’s newest iPhone sold out for pre-order at AT&T Inc, Verizon Wireless and Sprint, yes on all three of them, a day before the device officially goes on sale.

When Apple first launched the original iPhone back in 2007, they had only one carrier which was AT&T but, this year Apple launched their new iPhone on three major carriers in the US. Earlier this year, Apple added Verizon Wireless as their second carrier and then at the iPhone 4S announcement event, it was revealed that Sprint is going to be the third carrier of iPhone for Apple. Apple’s gamble of debuting the iPhone 4S on 3 major carriers turned out to be a mega hit instantly.

Verizon Wireless, the largest U.S. wireless operator, and Sprint, the third-largest, show no immediate stock of iPhone 4S 16-gigabyte models for pre-order on their websites however,  Sprint is still accepting orders for the 32GB and 64GB version of the iPhone 4S but the delivery would be 2-3 weeks late. On the other hand AT&T, the second-largest carrier, is giving buyers on its site a delivery estimate of three to four weeks, up from one to two days when pre-orders began Oct. 7. Over viewing the current situation we can safely say that despite the iPhone 4S’ looks resembling that of iPhone 4′s, Apple has surly won the hearts of its fans.

Roger Entner, an analyst with Recon Analytics LLC in Boston says;

“It looks like another blockbuster launch for Apple, only this time with three carriers”

Upon the release of iPhone 4S there was so much uncertainty that Apple stock fell 5% just after the iPhone 4S was announced. However surprisingly enough, the iPhone 4S while not meeting iPhone 5 expectations still managed to attract over 1 million pre-orders on the first day alone.

So, with the consumer feedback in terms of pre-orders it looks like the iPhone 4S really is Apple’s most amazing iPhone yet. While popular smartphones like the iPhone can help subscriber growth and increase revenue for the carriers, these smartphones also increase data traffic that can burden wireless networks at the same time. Lets see how well the famous carriers cope up with the burden of ever growing smartphone industry.
