Doing well in school is a worthy goal. You want to do well in school so you are eligible for scholarships, and you can get good jobs. If you are a college student that is starting college, or you are already in college, here are some tips to help you do well in school.
1. Set a goal for long term success. Even if you don’t know what you want to do right now, set a goal. You might make your goal to do well in school so you have lots of opportunities. If you are interesting in going to law school or medical school, make sure that you know the requirements so you can start working on the requirements now.
2. Always have your stuff with you. When you are in college, you may be tempted to minimize. You might not want to carry around a backpack, and that’s just fine. Make sure that you always have your school supplies on hand. Carry around your laptop and a few of your books if you get caught waiting in a long line. You will be able to take advantage of any study time that you may have.
3. Always take down notes. It doesn’t matter if the class is extremely boring―which is a better idea so it can help you pay attention. You will really like the fact that you took notes when you are trying to prepare for your tests.
4. Try to ask or answer question each class period. You will really stand out to your professors if you are always engaged during class.
5. Review your notes at home. Make sure that after you take notes in class, you take the time to review your notes. Do this in a place that is quiet and has no distractions. Reviewing a little bit after each class period will make sure that you remember everything that you learn. You will do a lot better in your classes and you won’t have to do much work.
6. Make friends with in your classes and study with them. There is nothing comparable as studying with others. You will be able to test your knowledge and teach others.
7. Sleep well. It is very tempting to stay up all night when you are in college―but don’t do it! It will affect your performance and you will be sleepy during your classes. You won’t be able to remember what is going on and you won’t do well in your classes.
