AMD 6800-Series Cards to Launch on Friday

A few months ago AMD Radeon 6000-series photos were leaked , AMD has now confirmed that the cards’ official names are the Radeon HD 6870 and Radeon HD 6850, and has released photos of reference versions of both cards. As was announced in August, AMD’s new series of cards will be the company’s first to not bear the brand name of ATI, which (AMD purchased in 2006).
The photos make the cards look very similar to the most recent 5000-series cards, with one key exception: the I/O bracket. It looks like at least the initial two 6000-series cards will sport two DVI outputs, one full-size HDMI out, and two Mini DisplayPort jacks. Most of the 5000-series cards offered two DVI, one HDMI, and one full-size DisplayPort jack.
The AMD Radeon HD 6870 will require two six-pin power connectors while the AMD Radeon HD 6850 will require only one.
